Winter Doldrums Q#4

Q: Defeat the Winter Doldrums" for some of us we get the doldrums and others don't. For the ones who get doldrums what helps you get rid of them? For the ones who don't get the doldrums, what helps you keep them away?


You know, this is only the third "winter" I have had in almost 20 years, so i still look at winter a bit differently. We have been in Hawaii where winter just means brown/more rain. Right now we have not had snow but have had it could snow weather. I am sick of this tease...can take spring now if it isn't going to be white. So when i get the winter blues i start planning for spring, seed catalogs, seeds..what to plant in the garden, reading books on long distance hiking, starting to get backpacking food ready, dehydrated, packaged, looking at patterns and fabrics for a few new summer pieces, knitting something for summer...these usually help me get over the blues, and in a way keep them from even coming!

towards the end of the day today it was quiet as a couple had cancelled their services. I got "dragged" into getting a choc-rasp sugar body scrub. Yum! And i feel so soft, lol!

A cute contest on LOVE and see chowder!

Not much today, went back to the old salon and had my hair done, fresh cut and color! So in the next few weeks i will take my girlfriend out to lunch as a thank you seeing she will not take money from me (we have been trading for 2 years now). Aside from being good and working out...Oh! I did pick up some yarn and a pattern. Organic cotton, beautiful sage! I'll post the pic tomorrow, my daughter has my card reader, smile. Must be downloading songs to her phone!

New Job! My commute...the foot ferry!

Yup, i have survived the week so far. Is kind of relaxing as at the beginning of my day and the end of the day i have a ten minute foot ferry ride across the sound. Of course yesterday we had hail and today was colder than....ice! It makes for a nice day's end though and there are some interestingly nice folks on board, a few really plain interesting as well!

Kitty is upset as the dog stripped the fur off her catnip wobble mouse today. It is still a wobble but naked! I cannot find even a shred of purple fur anywhere! Guess i'll find it in the yard later.

Lol, as of right now 8:17pm it is snowing quite hard out! YEAH!! A man on the ferry and i were talking about how cold it felt and how it smelled like snow..ok, folks laugh at me but i can usually smell snow..and i was right today! (brushing knuckles across shirt, still got it!)

Topic 3 Dishcloth winter doldrums!

Ok, a pic here would be super boring! I buy my dishcloth yarn usually by the pound cone and i have a few lying around. I did just locate a shop 2 weeks back that carries a much larger variety of yarns for dishcloths, so plan on a trip back there soon! My needles are just plain old straight 8's. I sometimes will use my harmony circs if my wrist is bugging me but otherwise...good old hand me down needles!

Go Patriots!!! Ok, i'm, a Packers fan but by marriage and location support the Seahawks as well but by birth and growing up have the Patriots at heart as well. So lucky for me I still do have someone to root for in the Bowl this year! Have a great sunday all!

Saturday is for being a bum and knitting. Still in pj's. Our guitar player is supposed to be coming by to practice a little. Not motivated to head into the shower. Sometimes i just do not feel like getting wet! Finished the book The Friday Night Knitting Club. Very good read!
